For centuries, people in the United State have spent hours fishing for food and for sport. Those who are into the pastime spend part of their dedicated hours searching for the perfect locations. Many have discovered Red Lake fishing and placed it into that “perfect” category. Here, fishers can find some very delicious fishes while taking in some beautiful scenery.

The lake is located in Beltrami County in the northern part of Minnesota. Its surface area spans nearly 450 square miles, making it the largest freshwater lake within the state. The lake is divided into two nearly equal parts by a peninsula coming from the east. These are named Lower Red Lake and Upper Red Lake.

Some of the best fish for eating are found here. Walleye is probably the most fished for. About 3.5 million walleye are caught in Minnesota annually which equates in weight to about 4 million pounds. Anglers seek out this species not only because of its yummy taste but also because catching the fish makes for quite a challenge. They are elusive and difficult to capture, thus their allure grows.

Walleye is not the only species sportsman seek here. The northern pike is also a popular fish. Though they are one of the fiercest predators in the lake’s waters they do make for an easy catch. Pike are such voracious hunters that they are overwhelmingly tempted to go after fishermen’s baits and lures. Pike average 2-3 pounds in size although some trophies have been awarded to anglers for reeling in a pike over 20 pounds. Some folks feel that pike taste just as good, if not better, than the walleye.

There are other fish swimming in the lake that fishermen catch on a regular basis. The yellow perch, Lake Whitefish, white sucker, black crappie and white crappie are some of these species. The crappies are the most frequently caught here and the giant black crappie is usually valued the highest.

Fishing season at the lake is really a sport that can take place year round. Sportsmen can be found ice fishing for black crappie during the winter months though the spring months are the best time to catch them as this is the season for their spawning runs. The northern pike, walleye and a relative of walleye, the sauger, are typically best sought from the beginning of May through the end of February.

A list of all the annual fishing tournaments throughout the state is published yearly by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. The Department grants somewhere between 400 and 600 permits to sponsors of all the tournaments. Red Lake is host to many of these tourneys. Entry fees are often as little as $30 and some of the prize money can total up to be $10,000 or more.

Red Lake is one of the most popular fishing destinations in Minnesota. In fact, it is considered to even be one of the best locations in the United States. Fishers can enjoy beautiful surroundings while reeling in any of a diverse abundance of fish.

On the northern edge of the state of Texas in Wood County near the small city of Quitman you will find a well known lake for bass fishing. Visitors come to this relaxing area to get away from the hustle and bustle of big city life. Lake Fork fishing is something you should experience if you enjoy the outdoors.

Largemouth Bass are most comfortable in water temperatures of 65 to 75 degrees. Finding the best time to come to the lake for successful fishing would depend on the seasons. If you come during the summer months, day fishing will not be very exciting. The fish will be deeper to stay cooler. You can fish during the night and probably have some luck.

Spawning season is during the spring months. The females will have laid their eggs and will be searching for food in the shallower waters. They are also active after it rains because the rain brings new nutrients into the water that they need. Anytime the waters are at their favorite temperatures they will go into feeding frenzies and can be easy found in shallower waters.

Between 1979 and 1987 the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department established this lake stocking it with over 700,000 Florida Black Bass. Needless to say this lake is famous for its Largemouth Bass. There are other species of fish that reside in these waters. There are Bluegills, Black Crappies, White Crappies, Channel Catfish and Flathead Catfish who share the lake with the bass. Hundreds of thousands of visitors come to the area each year to try their luck catching the big bass.

The best time to fish for the Largemouth Bass is during the spring, fall and winter months. The winter months are the best for the Crappies and the summer months for the Bluegills. Fishing at the lake is sure to be successful any time of the year, it just depends on what you want to fish for.

The Legend of Lake Fork is a 3 day event held every year in May. This year the winners can go home with prizes and cash awards totaling $237,000. Cash prizes are given to the biggest fish by weight. They must also be at least 24 inches or more in length. The winning bass in 2009’s event was 13.11 pounds. Due to the success of last year’s tournament they decided to add an extra day to the schedule.

During various days in February through May the Lake Fork Team Trail Tournament is held here. Each team consists of two people for the five different days. They are allowed to bring back 4 photo fish and or one 24 inch fish per team member. The pot for first place is $500.

The first World Championship Bass Fly Fishing Tournament will be held this year. The month of May has been the chosen month to conduct this event. Fishing is not limited to a boat. You can also use a float tube, pontoon or from the shoreline. Twelve hundred dollars is the purse for first place.

Lake Fork fishing has some of the most professional and personable guides. They are unique in that they help all visitors feel comfortable, safe and successful in catching fish. Their knowledge of fishing on this lake is outstanding. They know each area of the lake for finding exactly what you are looking for. They share this knowledge with you giving you the confidence try new techniques and explore new ways of catching fish.

Where you find water, you find fishing, and Kentucky lake fishing is some of the best in the US, as the waters of these 2 lakes makes them the largest in America. 170 000 acres of water surrounded by recreation areas makes this a favorite with vacationers.

Fun filled activity is guaranteed to suit the outdoorsman in anyone and everyone. Hiking camping, go-karting, water parks, boating, skiing, tubing and wild life spotting and much more will keep the family entertained while you fish the shores of these great and very beautiful lakes.

Down the length of the Tennessee River you will find nine reservoirs and Kentucky Lakes are the two largest. The Kentucky Dam was built and finished in 1944 and it back up this river for 184 miles, or if you like, the same as 155 339 football fields. The second lake, Lake Barkley was built in the 1950’s by the Engineers Corps of the US Army, and both lakes connect by a navigable canal.

Fishing and many other sports take place all through the year, winter included, but in the winter, the favorite sport is bird watching. Eagles can be spotted as well as many other migratory birds and it is a favorite spot for the more red blooded hunters, who can bag both duck and geese.

Fishing for crappie starts in the late winter and this continues into May, and although these fish move around a good deal, they move back into the shallows by April and this is also the time for Black Bass season to start. Bass fishing in the US is almost an obsession and this is understandable as trophy fishing wins massive prizes.

For less strenuous fishing pursuits, panfish are a popular catch and bluegill is one of the favorites. Kentucky lake fishing also allows the angler to stretch their line with redear; this is one of the popular shell cracker fish. Many guides in this area will be able to take you out to fishing hot spots.

Some of the top US tournaments visit Kentucky Lakes and you will find the Bassmaster Elite Series, the FLW series, the Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League and the Stren Series. There are massive b ass populations in these lakes as you can well imagine.

Because fishing for crappies in this area is also extremely popular, tournaments such as the Crappie USA tournament and Crappie Masters also visit the area. But for bigger fish to fry anglers also catch sauger, striped, yellow, white and yellow bass, blue and channel catfish as well as flathead.

The Kentucky Lakes are however more than just recreational areas and they are used to manufacture TVA hydroelectricity as well as control flooding on the Ohio and Mississippi and rivers.

Every year, as many as 17 million visitors flock to the shores of these great lakes, a large percentage of these are fishermen, but most are vacationers. If you think that it is home to uncountable boat docks, state parks, ninety two recreation areas of a commercial nature, country parks, national parks, wildlife management and refuge areas, group camps, municipal parks and 2 400 miles of shoreline, this is hardly surprising.

Are you an angler looking to find a fishing experience that is likely to go unmatched? You may want to consider checking out one of the largest fresh water lakes in all of North America. A Lake of the Woods fishing adventure will not only give you access to some very tasty fish, but it will also provide a visual stimulation hard to beat. This lake has several islands and houses many bald eagles.

The geography of Lake of the Woods is nothing short of fascinating with more than 14,000 islands and a 65,000 mile shoreline. This shoreline would by far be larger than any other in Canada but it is not located strictly in Canada. This lake, that is 65 miles wide and long, occupies the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Manitoba and also the U. S. State of Minnesota.

This international lake offers some excellent fishing opportunities. The two best catches for fishermen are muskellunge (also called Muskie) and walleye. The Muskie is the largest pike family member and is well known for its boldness, strength and amazing leaps out of the water. Walleyes are sought after first of all because they are considered to be a delicious fish choice and also because reeling one in is quite a challenge.

Walleye and Muskie are not the only species of fish to call this lake home. The lake also offers up largemouth and smallmouth bass, lake trout, Lake Perch, saugers, northern pike and crappies.

Ice fishing is extremely popular during December and January. The prime targets are perch, pike and walleye. The walleye season peaks in the summer, particularly July and August when the water temperatures rise. Their vulnerability is highest when they are in shallow waters or swimming in mid-lake mud flats. The best time to try to catch northern pike is February through March. In September smallmouth bass tend to form large groups making that the best month to fish for them.

As stated, ice fishing draws large numbers of tough fishing folk. The big catches are typically walleye, sauger and northern pike. Traveling to and from the lake is usually approached with safety. Of all the many ways to get onto the lake, most include means of flotation such as hovercrafts. Hundreds of fishing shacks can be seen at any given time and yet this lake is so massive in size that there is ample room for pretty much everyone, even in the “hot spots.”

Lake of the Woods hosts many fishing tournaments. Most of these tourneys are for bass and walleye. Tourneys are also plentiful for fishers looking to reel in crappies, perch and others. Anglers come from far and wide to participate in the Rainy River Walleye Live Release Tournament. The prize pool is $45,000 which includes $15,000 for the big winner.

While fishing Lake of the Woods is a main attraction, there is plenty of other fun to be had as well. On both the United States side and the Canadian side of the lake and in any season there are activities to keep just about anyone happy. Cold weather visitors can enjoy snowmobiling and dog sledding while those who prefer the warmer weather can take part in sailing and kayaking.

Fishing is one of the most popular recreational hobbies in the United States. Participants of this sport are always searching for the perfect spot. Many have discovered that Lake Lanier Fishing provides fantastic scenery, a good variety of fish and plenty of them.

Located in Georgia, Lake Lanier is a reservoir that was formed with the completion of the Buford Dam on the Chattahoochee River in 1956. The shoreline runs for approximately 7000 miles around its 35,000 acres of water. It was originally built as a means for flood control for the city of Atlanta and to provide hydroelectricity, it is also now heavily used as a recreational site for canoeing, jet skiing, fishing, boating and house boating.

The lake is widely known to offer a great breeding area for multiple species of fish. It is unique in that cold water is supplied from under the Buford Dam thus supporting the spawning of various species of trout including rainbow, broke and brown trout. The region is plentifully stocked by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

Trout is not the only species to inhabit Lake Lanier. Fishers looking for bass will be pleased with the opportunities in this lake. Striped bass and white bass are two examples of bass species found swimming in its water. Lanier is home to catfish, gars, perch and seven varieties of sunfish. Probably the most popular fish anglers catch in this lake are largemouth bass and black crappies.

Lanier is known throughout the fishing community as a great place for catching fish year round. A fishing excursion to the lake can be successful pretty much any month of the year. The best overall months to fish here are usually March, April and May. Some fish are better caught during specific seasons than others. For instance, January and February are the best time to try your hand at reeling in a few striped bass.

For those who like the competition aspect of fishing, there are numerous tournaments year round. These frequent tourneys are generally sponsored by local businesses and national or local charities. Fees for such tournaments usually run between $50 and $100. He who has caught the biggest fish will not only win the trophy but could also take home a substantial cash award.

Lanier is not only a place for fishermen. Those accompanying the fishers will find lots to do and the fishers themselves can also find activities to add to the overall enjoyment of the visit. There are several spots for camping and areas for hiking around the lake and in the general vicinity. The Buford Dam trail is one of the more popular choices for hikers visiting the area. Golfers, too, find themselves flocking to this region. There are some golf courses near the lake that offer fabulous play as well as beautiful scenery.

A visit to Lake Lanier can provide a memorable experience for the fisher and the non fisher alike. The fisherman will be pleased with the quantity and diversity of fish, the serene beauty of the surroundings and the vast size of the lake itself. The beauty is sure to captivate anyone, fishing or not.

Lying in between the Canadian province of Ontario on the north and the U. S. State of New York on the southeast, Lake Ontario is one of the five North American Great Lakes. Even though it is the smallest of all the Great Lakes, Lake Ontario fishing is generally considered to be of the best in the world.

Although it constitutes the least of the Great Lakes, this does not at all mean it is tiny. In surface area, it is 14th among the biggest lakes around the Earth and is a full 193 miles in length and is 53 miles in width, with the shoreline stretching over 700 miles. There is always plenty of room for the avid fisherman to have room to find a spot for some marvelous angling activity. This is a body of water that is famous for bearing a many top salmon and trout record book listings to be found in fishing.

Fishing around this lake is a year-around function with activities that will encompass everything from ice angling in cold weather months to the late summertime salmon runs. It will be often said that there is not a bad time to go fishing here, though there may be some times that will tend to bring the genuinely heavy crowds for what is considered the most favorite fish which lurk about the lake.

This becomes the spot to discover among the biggest densities of brown trout anyplace upon the planet. Anglers will be especially attracted here throughout the month of April as brown trout inevitably get into the shallows. Toward the early spring, the spawning bait fish will amass here and there are always plenty of bigger fish that are ready and wishing to pour in to consume them. You are able to also find large schools of steel heads running the shallower waters around the lake this part in year.

Since many kinds of fish species are comparatively inactive around the winter months, they need to eat a lot when the waters begin to warm up. Even while the trout are by far the biggest attraction, an abundance of bass, panfish and walleyes will be a good enough cause for fishers to return every year. A multitude of outdoorsmen have made an annual custom out of going to Lake Ontario for spring fishing. As well as the trout, the perch, salmon and musky fill up the waters.

Commencing early in June and extending through August, people cluster here to try to put their hooks into the King Salmon. Early in the spring, these fish will weigh from a sizable 10 to 15 pounds. Nevertheless, summer and early fall sees them become behemoths that are typically above 40 pounds of pole flexing, line busting fish.

When September comes, they start the breeding runs and some enthusiastic fisherman, perhaps exaggerating, will claim you are able to walk on their backs across the Genesee River.

For anyone who has an urge to seek the big ones, and find a plenitude of them, they will find that Lake Ontario fishing is always a satisfying experience that keeps anglers returning time after time.

Forced boredom can result in some interesting and off the wall activities. For people living in regions with extended and cold winters, there is still a sense of wanting to go out and be active rather than succumb to cabin fever.

Ice fishing evolved as a direct out growth for the natural inclination to want to fish all year. Being able to change an activity to suit your needs can turn it into a new source for fun and the long winter months can make you want to do anything to get away from it all.

Although there are no mosquitoes to worry about, you realize it is because they are not as crazy as you are to come out in the freezing temperature of winter dressed to the nines and trudging across a frozen lake.

Once you get a sense that you have found a good spot, drilling into the ice is the order of the day! Once that is done, ice fishers settle in and wait for their catch to bite.

This description can sound lonely and solemn, but the truth is many people participate in the sport. In fact, 25% of the annual catch of Wisconsin comes from ice fishing. You are usually not all alone on the ice and instead spontaneous ice cabin cities create an atmosphere of warmth and friendship over a shared activity that can make the whole endeavor worth it. One of the best ice fishing spots is located in Minnesota.

Red Lake is located in Northern Minnesota and is a premier spot for ice fishing in the long winter months. Red Lake fishing can be lucrative because of the variety of available fish from jumbo perch to northern pike, as well as crappies and walleyes.

People rent cabins in the summer and Red Lake rents ice cabins in the winter for the express purpose of ice fishing. These cabins can be either two or four person equipped and there is now the option of having the freedom to eat what you catch right away by frying it while you’re on the lake.

It seems like we are sold the idea that everyone leaves as soon as it is too cold for too long. The truth is, not many people have the money to travel to tropical destinations and so they make due with what they have and it results in some of the most innovative and fun activities. Red Lake fishing is one way to truly enjoy the cold.

Perhaps you are one of those fishermen who love to seek bass and you are always looking for a great place. If this sounds familiar then you may want to think about Lake Fork fishing. The lake was impounded in 1980. In terms of water, impounding means confined in a reservoir. Its deepest point is 70 feet and it features an impressive 27,264 acre surface area. Anglers from all over come visit this lake to take advantage of its prize-winning quality bass.

Before you head out to the lake, you should know that there are a few regulations in place by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD.) To begin with, there is a daily limit of 5 bass per day and a limit of one bass over 24 inches. Additionally, no bass 16-24 inches in length may be kept and must be returned to the water.

Such regulations should not be surprising when you realize that Fork is among the most popular fishing locales in the United States. In fact, 32 of the largest 50 bass caught in Texas are reeled in from this lake. This opens opportunities for pretty much any fishing trophy seeker.

Along with the bass, there are other species found here. Fishers will be glad to learn that sunfish, catfish and white and black crappie are also lake inhabitants. As far as crappie fishing goes, there is a minimum length regulation of 10 inches. This restriction is lifted during the December, January and February.

If, bass fishing is your thing, spring, fall and winter are the best times to go. The peak season falls during mid February, March and April. Successful lures have proven to be plastic worms, jigs and crank bait.

If you are hopeful of a top notch experience reeling in bass, Lake Fork will not disappoint. It has proved itself to be one of the best spots in all the United States for bringing home some largemouth bass worthy of prizes and trophies.
